AMS was engaged by The Kentucky Center in 2017 to assist in exploring strategies to re-imagine and re-develop its principal location on North 6th Street and West Main Street, in the heart of downtown Louisville. As the Center nears its 35th anniversary, it is an appropriate time to evaluate the utilization and operation of the existing structure and assess how it may build upon its success in order to continue to serve as a vital hub of performing arts, education, and community engagement for both Louisville and the State of Kentucky.
Our process focused on developing a master plan for the facility that would:
- Improve performance spaces to meet future expectations of comfort and accommodation;
- Develop ancillary facilities and capabilities to provide amenities and programs desired by 21st century patrons, in order to remain competitive;
- Activate public spaces and engaging green space;
- Make investments in technology and sustainable infrastructure to ensure efficient operation.
