AMS was engaged in May of 2018 to work in tandem with Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) in the development of a new strategic plan, guided by the vision of its new Executive Director.
The inclusive planning process, under the guidance of a strategic planning committee took place in four stages; Listening, Learning, Thinking, and Planning. The effort included a thorough study of the agency’s operations, gaining feedback on the agency’s strengths and opportunities from a wide range of stakeholders, and updating the organization’s vision and mission statements. Additionally, the charge included examining and suggesting revisions to the grant-making process, studying and learning from best practices research, and ultimately creating an implementable strategic plan with prioritized strategies.
The process and recommendations were designed to well position the MSAC staff to function in a manner that would contribute to the agency’s success moving forward; both internally and as they endeavor to serve their state-wide constituency.
